Leonid Kisselev is a registered patent attorney and has been with the firm since June 2011. He graduated with honors from the University of Washington School of Law in March 2012. As a patent attorney, Leonid has given continuing education seminars on obtaining intellectual property protection in the United States and abroad. He has also lectured on intellectual property to the general public. At law school, he was a member of the Pacific Rim Law and Policy Journal and served as the public relations representative of the Technological Law Society. He received from the University of Washington his Master of Science degree in Chemistry in 2008, Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Biology in 2006 and Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 2006. Prior to starting law school, Leonid worked as a research associate at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington. Leonid is fully-fluent in Russian and has studied Spanish and Tatar. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and cross-country skiing.

In addition to providing litigation support, Leonid has written and prosecuted patent applications covering a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, computer software, mechanical, and electromechanical devices such as the digital photography system described in U.S. Patent No. 8,704,944. His medical device prosecution experience includes patents covering implantation instruments, such as U.S. Patent No. 8,435,208, and surgical resurfacing aids, such as U.S. Patent No. 8,702,805. His experience in the field of computer software includes a portfolio of patents covering data classification and visualization, including U.S. Patents Nos. 8,572,084, 8,700,627, and 8,713,018. He has also prosecuted patents relating to software for communication in online games (U.S. Patent No. 8,616,970), call processing in a call center (U.S. Patent Nos. 8,521,527 and 8,625,752), distribution of electronic messages (U.S. Patent Nos. 8,504,626 and 8,341,534), identifying topics of text communications (U.S. Patent No. 8,725,717), and sharing information in a collaborative environment such as a wiki (U.S. Patent No. 8,656,286). During the prosecution of these patents, Leonid has carefully evaluated references cited by the United States Patent & Trademark Office (“USPTO”), conducted interviews with USPTO Examiners, and distinguished the cited references from the subject matter being patented while striving for the broadest achievable claim scope. He also has experience of managing patent prosecution abroad.

Leonid is licensed to practice law in Washington State and is registered to practice before the USPTO. He is currently serving as secretary and treasurer of the International Property Section of the Washington State Bar.
